I think perhaps because I liked The Graveyard Book so well I had preconceived notions of how this book would be. It has some creative details, and I love the language (very British,) but I cannot put my finger on what seems to be missing for me. It was recommended to me by one of my students who saw me reading Gaiman's The Graveyard Book. I had not read this author before that, and I really enjoyed his writing.
